Default Necromancer and Elementalist Pet

a friend of mine had just bought GW when i came over there to play some "real" roleplaying game, paper, pen and dices. well, i was stunned by the fact that it was mmorpg, not true since it's a corpg or something like that, but it is sooo close to a mmorpg. since the frst words of mmorpg was mentioned in game media i wanted to be a part of it, but since most mmorpg games that are somewhat playable have a monthly fee i don't buy them. When i saw GW and the no monthly fees it was like a dream, i soon bought it and started a necromancer, which i'm still playing with.

My friend who got it before me uses rangers alot, and they are the only profesion that can have a pet, now the necromancer can have fiends, minions and horrors, but they are not permanent as the ranger's pet. before i got gw i thought that Elementalists could summon elementals and necromancers get skeletons, and i thought they were weaker than the other profesions to, the warrior can take a beating like hell, the mesmer could summon illusionary armor and the monk heal himself, while the ranger, elementalist and ranger were weaker profesions who needed a little help along the way, in my head it was logical, 3 mainly stronger and 3 mainly weaker. but i also thought there were 1v1 too so they would get use for them there.

taking away the minion ability for the necromancer and replacing it with a undead pet would be nice, not in core or factions, maybe in a later chapter, traveling to the new chapter with a necro would disable minions but he/she would get to choose a somewhat stronger pet somewhere from a necromancer in a graveyard, having different corpses, all having their own strengths and weaknesess, and different corpses in different areas.

the elementalist however would have to summon his/her pet from the medium (only elements like earth, water, fire and air) they choose, either a special attribute which has a summon elemental and the be able to choose from what medium, or the different attributes have a summon elemental, earth have summon earth elemental, summoning it in a forest, desert or from a rock would give it different attributes, much like fire, make it from lava or fire, and so on

yes i know that it would get unbalanced and that it would change the game experience, maybe for the better, maybe for the worse, but how do we know, we haven't tried it? the devs would have to work for it, but hey, for another chapter, not for core, not for factions, maybe for the next after factions, maybe after that.

i'm not "oh my god what a great idea, this have to get in the game, my god i'm smart" for this, it would be fun to have available

All professions having a special kind of pets sounds rather interesting. Rangers stick to their natural animals. Necros summon theirs from skeletons lying around (permanent pets that is). Eles can pick an element. If they want a water pet; get it from a river, fire pet; volcano, earth; desert; air, mountain. Mesmers get pets with teleporting ability to fool the enemies. Warriors get some weak baby rhinosaurus that dies rather easily (maybe same armor as casters), but when he gets attacked the warrior gets energy or adrenaline (maybe both)from the anger. Monks get ... ended cause of lack of ideas.

As I said, interresting, but it would be incredibly hard to balance it and keep the pets from becoming overpowered. Also, can you say IWAY? No need to stick to W/R's anymore.

edit: Though I think they already fixed IWAY not to respond to dead pets.

yes it does, i had that in mind when i wrote, but u only get to have one pet, like the ranger. As I see it it resambles Diablo pretty much now allready with the minions, loads of minions could be taken as loads of skeles. Who says it has to be a bad thing anyway? Take warcraft 3 for instance, the game borrows loads of things from starcraft, not a bad thing. Diablo made way for loads of other slash-your-way-through-endless-hordes-of-hellbent-creatures-rpgs, not a bad thing, only that there were to many

You could also say that WoW takes the Command and Conquer: Renegade concept by putting the player in controll of one unit instead of being the commander.

As I said in the end, not in the core, not in the factions, maybe in the chapter after factions, or there after. I'm very excited with the new minions, only hope that they won't have the same skins and models as the old ones

just go */R and get into beastmastery, its quite fun really.
i hate all the new ideas and like just having a pet on my chars. and nothing more or less as they already do well especially with the +5 damage to most fo their skills added a while ago. just do that if you want a pet like i did.

I like the idea of having a pet but don't want to have to be a ranger just to get one. The pets do not have to be that strong its more of a companion or status thing. Kind of like people wanting FoW armor or adding town clothing. Maybe instead of attacking the pets could give you a modifier. A fire pet gives +1 to your fire skill. The ranger gets a hawk that increases his bow distance. The war gets a pet that gives +5 armor. The necro's would give -1 hp to monsters in range. Stuff like that. You would have to give up a skill slot to take your pet if they give modifiers.

Fix Ranger Pets
Make Beastmasters stand out from other classes
Create a way that Ranger pets are much better than any other minion/pet
Then I'll support this.
